Amiibo and masks
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2 supports amiibo: any Legend of Zelda series amiibo gives in-game extras such as heart refills, ammo and magic jars, and the new Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo, due in 2027, unlock special retro-style masks. No amiibo is needed to finish the game, and Nintendo has not dated or priced the two new figures as of Nov 1, 2026.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2 works with amiibo: Nintendo of America's store page says that tapping any Legend of Zelda series amiibo gives in-game extras, and that the new Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo, coming in 2027, unlock retro-style masks. The remake comes out on Nov 5, 2026, more than a month before the two new figures at the earliest, so on launch day only the older Zelda amiibo do anything. Masks the game itself gives are on Side quests, masks and minigames, and everything else that changed on What's new in the remake.

Which amiibo work with the Ocarina of Time remake?
Every Legend of Zelda series amiibo does, by Nintendo's store page. Nintendo Everything's round-up of Oct 24, 2026 says that "all past Zelda amiibo work with the game, and drop items like heart refills, ammo, and magic jars when scanned". Nintendo has not listed figure by figure what each gives, or said whether any older figure gives something special, as of Nov 1, 2026. Nintendo's overview trailer of Oct 14, 2026 makes the same split: the two new amiibo give masks, and amiibo of characters from other Legend of Zelda games give items (Trailers and Nintendo Directs).
What do the Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo do?
Each unlocks a mask for Link to wear. Producer Hidemaro Fujibayashi introduced the two figures in The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on Sep 8, 2026: "These amiibo unlock special in-game masks", with the screen reading "Available 2027". Nintendo's store page calls them retro-style masks, and Nintendo Everything describes them as Nintendo 64-themed. Nintendo has not shown the masks being worn or said whether they do more than change Link's look, as of Nov 1, 2026. Young Link is the boy hero of the first half of the game (Link), and Young Zelda the princess he meets in the castle courtyard (Princess Zelda and Sheik).
When are the new amiibo out?
In 2027. Nintendo's recap of the Direct dates them only by the year, and no day, price or pre-order has been announced as of Nov 1, 2026. Vice noted on Oct 28, 2026 that no special edition of the game is needed for them: the masks come from the figures, not from an edition.
Is anything locked behind amiibo?
Only the two masks and the extra items. The story, the dungeons, the Hall of Fallen Heroes and every collectible Nintendo has described are in the game itself, which is sold in one edition (Editions, price and pre-order bonuses). The Playable Ocarina sold on the My Nintendo Store is not an amiibo: the remake recognizes its notes as a real instrument (Ocarina songs).
