Trailers and Nintendo Directs
Nintendo has shown the Ocarina of Time remake in four official videos: the 98-second reveal in the Nintendo Direct of Jun 9, 2026; on Sep 8, 2026 in The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct, a 15-minute gameplay demonstration by series producer Eiji Aonuma and a 3-minute trailer that set the Nov 5, 2026 date; and a narrated overview trailer of almost 5 minutes on Oct 14, 2026; Nintendo's Japanese channel added two 30-second TV ads on Oct 16: a battle ad with the first look at Dark Link, and an ocarina ad of the story.
Nintendo has released four official videos of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2: a reveal trailer on Jun 9, 2026, a gameplay demonstration and a trailer on Sep 8, 2026, and an overview trailer on Oct 14, 2026, all on Nintendo of America's YouTube channel, and Nintendo's Japanese channel added two 30-second TV ads on Oct 16, 2026, one of battles and one of the story. The trailer of Sep 8, which closed The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct, is the one most people have seen: after wide views of Hyrule Field, Death Mountain and Lake Hylia, adult Link rears up on Epona, then come the Temple of Time, a burning web inside the Great Deku Tree, and Young Link with Malon and a foal at Lon Lon Ranch, with no narration. This page lists every official video in order, what each shows, and what else the two Directs announced, as of Oct 17, 2026.

Nintendo UK posted the same videos under its own titles, the overview trailer included, among them "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Coming 2026" in June and Aonuma's demonstration as "Series producer Eiji Aonuma presents The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo Switch 2)". Nintendo of America posted an orchestral version of the Triforce Medley on Oct 3, 2026. Extra clips on Nintendo's Japanese game site show Lon Lon Ranch, Gerudo's Fortress and Zora's Domain in the remake; they are not on Nintendo's YouTube channels. A Dutch pre-order trailer was reported on Oct 13, 2026, but this viki has not found it on YouTube.
The reveal: Jun 9, 2026
Nintendo revealed the remake as the final announcement of the Nintendo Direct of Jun 9, 2026. The teaser is a legend told over a woven tapestry: "Long ago, there was a land called Hyrule, created by beings of supreme divinity", a small forest at the edge of the kingdom watched over by an ancient tree, the Kokiri and their fairies, and "one particular boy... who did not have a fairy." It ends on Young Link asleep in his treehouse, the logo and the window "2026". Nintendo described the game as "The Nintendo 64 classic returns for a new generation in 2026, reborn exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2".
The tapestry drew the first analysis. Zeltik, a Zelda creator, compares it to the Bayeux Tapestry, points out Hyrule Castle's blue towers woven into it, and reads the "beings of supreme divinity" as the three goddesses Din, Nayru and Farore; he argues the trailer frames Ocarina of Time as a legend remembered after its events. The tapestry returned in September as Threads of Time, the remake's progress feature (What's new in the remake).
The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct: Sep 8, 2026
The Direct, streamed on Sep 8, 2026 at 7 a.m. PT, was given over to the series' 40th anniversary. After the orchestral Triforce Medley, Shigeru Miyamoto opens it: "This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Legend of Zelda series", recalling the first game on the Famicom in 1986, then announces a live-action film in theaters worldwide on Apr 30, 2027, titled simply The Legend of Zelda. He also announces Zelda tickets and a history board at the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, and a Master Sword photo spot there from Nov 5, 2026.
Composer Koji Kondo, who has written the series' music since the first game, explains that the opening medley was arranged for the anniversary around the Triforce's virtues of Wisdom, Power and Courage, and announces 40th Anniversary concerts: in Japan from Tokyo in January 2027, a North American tour from Chicago in February, a European tour from London in April and an Australian tour in Melbourne in May.
Eiji Aonuma, producer of the series, then presents Ocarina of Time for 15 minutes, published separately as the "Mr. Aonuma Gameplay Demonstration". He introduces the original as "the first 3D game in the Legend of Zelda series" over Nintendo 64 footage, says the team has been making the remake for the 40th anniversary as "a faithful interpretation using modern technologies", and plays it: Kokiri Forest, the inside of the Great Deku Tree, Hyrule Field with Threads of Time, Castle Town, the Sun's Song, humming into the microphone and calling a horse, before giving the Nov 5 date. Every change he shows is on What's new in the remake; the dungeon he plays is Inside the Deku Tree.
Hidemaro Fujibayashi follows: "I'm working as a producer alongside Mr. Aonuma on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time." He shows the game's features in Zelda Notes, the Nintendo Switch App service: Today's Record, Gossip Quests, Play Ocarina and an Ocarina of Time Quiz of over 2,000 questions, then the Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo, due in 2027, which unlock special in-game masks.
The last announcement is hardware: a Nintendo Switch 2 The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition with a gold Triforce design, a matching Pro Controller and a carrying case. Nintendo's 61-second trailer shows the console, Joy-Con and dock, without speech, ending on "Available 10.29.2026". It does not include the game (Editions, price and pre-order bonuses).
The trailer's voices
The closing trailer is the first time the remake's characters are heard. Saria says goodbye: "I think I always knew. Knew that you would leave the forest behind someday. Even if that much is true, you're my friend, forever and ever." Princess Zelda cries "Who, who's there?!", Darunia, chief of the Gorons, says "That's great stuff, kid. Good on ya. I'm real impressed.", and Princess Ruto tells Link "You know what? You're not half bad." The trailer ends with Ganondorf ("Now this world and the Triforce belong to me!"), the Nov 5, 2026 date and the textured foil packaging of the first physical print run. The characters are on Characters, Princess Zelda and Sheik and Ganondorf. Nintendo has not named any voice actors as of Oct 14, 2026.
The Direct listed other anniversary products too: the Playable Ocarina from the Nintendo Store and HORI's Electric Ocarina of Time, both recognized by the game, a LEGO Ocarina of Time Link and Epona set and a Hasbro electronic Master Sword for spring 2027, and Nintendo Today! app cards.
The overview trailer: Oct 14, 2026
Three weeks before launch, on Oct 14, 2026, Nintendo posted an overview trailer of 4 minutes 43 seconds, the first official video since September and the first with a narrator walking through the whole game. It retells the opening, "Deep within the forest, everyone has a fairy except for one boy, Link", then Navi, the Great Deku Tree and the Triforce, which "an evil being seeks to claim", before touring the game's parts: the kingdom of Hyrule, its characters (Zelda's "Who's there?", Darunia and Ruto return from the September trailer), monsters and puzzles in dungeons, items, and the ocarina, whose songs "can change Hyrule".
It also shows one feature Nintendo had not described before. "Somewhere in this world", the narrator says, lies a hall where "statues of defeated monsters reside"; players can learn about them or "engage in rematches with powerful foes". Nintendo of America's article on the trailer names it the Hall of Fallen Heroes. The 3DS version's Boss Challenge offered rematches too, but Nintendo has not tied the two together as of Oct 18, 2026 (What's new in the remake, Bosses).
The trailer ends on two things already announced in September: Zelda Notes support in the Nintendo Switch App, and the two new amiibo, which give special in-game masks, while amiibo of characters from other Legend of Zelda games give in-game items. The same day, IGN and other outlets published their first hands-on previews (What's new in the remake).
The Japanese TV ads: Oct 16, 2026
On Oct 16, 2026 Nintendo's Japanese YouTube channel posted a 30-second TV ad, "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time CM, gameplay, battle" in its Japanese title, made only of fights and with no narration. It is the first official video to show adult Link's later dungeons in the remake: Ganondorf at his organ, Morpha's water tentacle lifting Link in the Water Temple, the Shadow Temple's ship, and, at about 16 seconds, Link crossing swords with Dark Link in the misty room of the Water Temple, which TheGamer calls the first look at Dark Link in the remake. The ad then shows Sheik and King Dodongo, and closes on the logo and the Nov 5 date (Water Temple, Bosses).
The same day the channel posted a second 30-second ad, "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time CM, gameplay, ocarina" in its Japanese title, also without narration. Where the battle ad is all fights, this one follows the story: Young Link plays the ocarina in the Temple of Time and is carried off in a burst of light, Navi watches a white horse with two riders gallop away in the rain, Link rides Epona across Hyrule Field and walks through a sandstorm, Young Link stands with Malon and a horse at Lon Lon Ranch, adult Link holds the Master Sword in the Temple of Time, and the ad closes on Hyrule Field, the logo and the Nov 5 date.
On Oct 19, 2026 the Japanese campaign added 11 screenshots credited to Nintendo, VICE reported. Most match scenes from the ads: Young Link and adult Link playing the ocarina in the rain, the ocarina itself up close, Young Link with Malon and a young Epona at Lon Lon Ranch, and adult Link riding Epona across Hyrule Field. The others are close views: Young Link running up a Death Mountain path under falling, burning rocks, Ganondorf's new model with his red hair and forehead jewel, Ganondorf raising a hand that shows a glowing Triforce in purple light, Sheik crouched on a wooden beam above a village at night in the rain, and Link hanging beneath a giant bird over a turquoise lake (Ganondorf, Princess Zelda and Sheik, Epona).
The 2011 trailers for Ocarina of Time 3D
The game was remade once before. Nintendo of America's trailer of May 3, 2011 for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D opens on "The story that became a legend" and "Now in 3D", then shows the 3DS version's Hyrule Castle at night, a Deku Baba, the Temple of Time and the Fire Temple (Ocarina of Time 3D).
A "New Features" trailer of May 27, 2011 shows what the 3DS added: Hint Movies watched in a Sheikah Stone, items on the touch screen and the Boss Challenge. Of these, only boss-style rematches have a counterpart in the 2026 remake so far: the Hall of Fallen Heroes in the overview trailer of Oct 14, 2026.
A trailer of Jul 7, 2011 introduced the 3DS version's Master Quest, starting from the GameCube boxes of 2002 and 2003: "Everything you see is mirrored in Master Quest", enemy positions, item locations and puzzles differ, and "The damage will be doubled" (Master Quest).
